I have to go to court tomorrow to talk to a judge... I'm still on my provisional and this is for driving after 12.. I checked off guilty with reason (or whatever it's called) so I'm just gonna be talking to a judge. What is the proper attire for going to court?

Khakis or a suit makes you look better. A lot of people wear jeans, but I wouldn't.

Suit makes you look pompous and rich. I take it you're a teenager (due to the driving after 12 thing), so I'd wear khakis, a nice shirt, and optional tie.

Pulled from this months Maxim.

Find some nasty ass Birkenstocks, some baggy shorts, and a tye dye with either a peace symbol or marijuana leaf on it, don't take a bath, find yourself a FUBU visor and wear it backwards and upside down. I'm sure the judge will be lenient on you.

Actually just wear some nice pants and a decent looking shirt and you will be fine.

Actually, if you don't mind spending just a little bit more, rather than regular khakis (Dockers or something similar), buy a pair of Slates trousers. They're the upscale Levi&Strauss brand, can easily pass for being expensive dress suit trousers (yet don't need to be dry cleaned like normal dress trousers), and don't cost much more than regular dockers (around here, Dockers run like 35, Slates about 45-50). Couple your Slates with a fairly decent dress shirt, tie, and appropriate shoes, and you'll be well-attired for court. In other words, dress as you would for a theater show or Easter Sunday church services, and you'll do fine :)

Wear black jeans, a black leather jacket and doc martin's. Black lipstick and eye liner are optional. The judge will like the look and is garaunteed to go easy on you! j/k

Seriously, just wear a decent pair of khakis, a nice polo shirt and dress shoes and you'll be fine.

Bingo!

I go to court all the time as a parole officer for juveniles.
Believe me that appearance presents an attitude.

Dress right!
Take responsibility. Judges hate excuses and lies.
Ask for leniency, don't demand or display entitlement.

Good Luck. (sometimes it simply comes down to catching the judge on a good day as opposed to a bad day)
