What to use to hang christmas lights on vynil siding?

Looking for some ideas...

Last year we tried some small adhesive clips and they all fell during and after the winter.

But about the stupid part....

Some of us ask to see who has experience with what. Sure I can do a search and find a ton of products available, but it would be great to hear from someone who maybe tried some of them before and knows which one works best.

Anyway, I went to the Home Depot and found some GUTTER clips which I cut / modified to use on the siding (And I did not know the siding had those grooves)

I thought up a redneck way...two fish hooks and a length of monofiliament times as many as you need (probably 1 every 3 feet or so)

Hook the lights on one side of the house...run the monofilament over the roof and hook the other side of the house's lights.

Have a Pabst Blue Ribbon when done.

It is vinyl by the way.

if you are trying to hang it on the laps just poke a paper clip under the lip.
