what to use to ghost a working drive onto DVD?

I have someone who keeps needing me to reformat there PC, yes it's 'easy' money but it's taking a lot of time...I want to load up her system and get it running perfectly, then just get it onto a DVD or two so she can do it herself when it happens again.

Does Acronis do this? Or should I look elsewhere?

I've never used the dvd option from acronis but what you could do is have them place an image file on an external drive and restore from there when needed.

What os is this person on? Have you looked into a limited user account? I did this for a family member that had continually been having issues with malware and viruses and such, no problems really since.

external HD will be confusing for them...I COULD do a partition...the account was limited!

It's XP PRO.

but for future reference, how do you restore an image from an external drive? Do you do that within acronis?

So in my dealings with Acronis I've always restored from an image file either on an external drive or from a separate internal drive, you boot from the Acronis live cd and click the restore function, point the program to the correct image and do a restore. I wish I had more info for you on the DVD option but I've never used it, as sad as it sounds most of my images are larger than 4.7GB

Take a look at my Acronis TI replacement, ShadowProtect Desktop it work great but I suggest making the backup on a separate partition for backups as DVD media is less reliable e.g. might get scratched or broken can also have dye problems. You can split the 1 hard drive your using now if space permits. Free trial can be had at link..............
