I just got a 2001FP. I found one by hand in the lower right. I only notice it when the screen goes black.

Monitorsdirect has a toolkit that can let you set your screen to specific colors.

If you only notice it when it's black, I'm guessing hte pixel is green, right? See what colors it can do. I have a red one that's always red and another that can do green or black.

Yes, it's green. I tried Red, Green, Blue, and White backgrounds and didn't find anymore.:)

I don't get why you would TRY to find dead pixeless I think the more I knew about the madder I would be, unless you can send the LCD back to get another with out them. I DO think it is complete crap that some places have like an 8 minimum allowance or whatever ot bring back I mean you just spent atleast 400 for a low end LCD and it has imperfections? thats crap.

Dell has a 30 day exchange/refund period. I think I'll keep this one though since it's only one, and I can only see it on a black screen.

you mostly get dead subpixels, a whole pixel dying doesnt happen very often. I got a tool with my screen that just changes between different colors it shows the dead one very wall (only got one dead subpixel now in 3 years of use, kinda okay with me)

I just set the background color to either black or white and look that way. The Monitors Direct tool is a nice way to check though.

My boss just got a new laptop that had a pixel that would go blue on black (when it should have been off).
The pixel worked for all other colors. He just pressed on it and now it works perfect.

I have a dead pixel, or perhaps a pinhole which is blocked in the shadow mask in my new Samsung 955DF... I'll be exchanging this one for another next week.

CRT's don't suffer from dead pixels.
