i'm pretty noob at case modding...

what is the best material to use for putting up a window on a case? acrylic, fiberglass, or something else?

also how thick should it be and what do i use to attach the window to the case? Can I just glue the window to the case or do i need to drill?

Most people use acrylics but it's a bit hard to work with - melts if you cut it too fast, and it scratches and smudges real easily.

I used plexi glass I got from the hardware store and then just pop rivits.. make sure you put washers or you will crack the plexi.. and it looks awsome to me and costed less than $4.00 for a 16"x16" window and they even cut it to size for me for free..

I'd have to agree with yokomo, and suggest using plexiglass... I've been thinking about using it myself, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to mount 120mm fans to it. I'm also a bit weary about cutting a large section out of my case.

Cutting the plexi is easy use the biggest drill bit you have go slow and make sure it is sharp or you will either burn or crack the plexi, then connect the dots with a small key hole saw for any hardware store the small the teeth the slower the cut but also the smoother... then some sanding and there you go more time consuming than difficult if you want a clean looking job.. if you want a premade window I have one that I am looking to sell pm me for details, it is red and has "Danger High Voltage" on it.

If you get one of the kits that comes with a gasket, the gasket actually holds the window in place.
Here's a quick rundown

I used pop rivits and washers but if you wanna go really simple yea I guess you could use some kind of gasket material I would goto a car parts place and look for high temp gasket silicon or some thing like that?

Real glass if for insane enthusiats, because they look nice as heck... all shiny 'n stuff

Otherwize stick with plexi-glass, it's like plastic if you didn't know.

But if you don't want to go through all that, just get a case with a side window.

Lexan (polycarbonate) doesn't yellow as badly as plexi (acrylic) can - besides, it's bulletproof ;) .
