i know i know you are probably sick of hearing all these noobs that dont know how to use a computer right, right?

anyway i was sent an athlon TB 800 socket A in a trade before x-mas, and i used it for my sisters computer. i had all the components ready and waiting to be built, just waiting for the CPU.
the CPU came and i dropped it into the motherboard fine, but there was one problem i had, on the motherboad i used (aopen ak33) the RAM slots have the groves the other way round from my ASUS A7V133A and i tried forcing them a little to get the in, i just thought they were being stubborn.
anyway as soon as i realised my mistake i turned them around and finished off completing the PC, by putting the silver orb HSF on the CPU, to which i am sure i didn't damage the CPU on installation.
i booted up the PC and nothing..............the PC came on but there was nothing on the screen, and the HDD didn't boot up other than that it seemed fine, like it was running normally. i mean there were no system beeps to tell me there was something wrong.

so anyway i put in my sisters duron 800 and still it didn't work, only this time i got system beeps.

so i thought it must be the motherboard, i tried both CPU's on my ASUS A7V133A and the duron works fine but the athlon 800 is the same as last time, it comes on but no screen and no HDD spin-up.

so i want to know if you think there is anything i can try to get the CPU working again, or to confirm the guy sent me out a dead chip or something.

Sounds dead to me. You did what I would have to test it. Find a known working setup and drop it in.

Only thing to check is if the multipliers were unlocked? Either with pencil or conductive pen or defogger compound. If it is, try cleaning off the unlock job. Acetone removes conductive pen and defogger.

Otherwise its just a dead bird.......:(
