Yep, the box is perfect. I usually set it on top of the antistatic bag with that on top of the box if I do test the board outside of the case.

Just keep in mind that antistatic bag's internal surface is CONDUCTIVE by design!!! However, I am not sure about HOW conductive it is, so maybe +5V and +12V are safe. Nevertheless, I would not put my mobo on top of the antistatic bag. Another possibility it could melt.

Yea, I do that all the time. You can even start the system by just placing a jumper accross the two pins the power button plugs into momentarly.

I just keep a power button around ripped outta an old case or in worse case go to best buy and buy a button switch and rig it up

I sometimes use the tip of a screwdriver, or any other metal thing I can get my hands on.

Is it true that only the inside of an antistatic bag is conductive? I always assumed it was all conductive.

Honestly, I have no clue about OUTSIDE. We know for sure that INSIDE is conductive. And I think it is easier / cheaper to produce it one-sided, making it double-sided would be a waste of time and money. So I guess only inside is conductive.
