I don't know much about projection HDTVs, but my dad has a 2/3 yr old 55" Mitsubishi and it looks amazing. I've never been a fan of Mitsu TV's, but I'd put money on their bigscreens.

you gotta watch out though, they're only good for like 10,000 hours and that's it.

You must be drunk. Since when are CRT based RPTVs good for only 10,000 hours?

wtf u talking about? even plasmas, being a horrible investment, have 3-4 times that life span.

i have a $2200 hdtv. hitachi ultravision 51s500. it all depends on your needs. i wanted one of the best and i watch movies like lotr, king arthur, matrix etc...so i need a tv that excels in black level performance(meaning it doesnt look washed out in dark scenes). the tv you posted is great for normal tv viewing and the likes of ice age, toy story. but not so good at BLP. there is also another model which escapes me but its a 51 inch philips... my other tv and does a very nice job. what it boils down to is the features what you want and the picture quality. what one likes doesnt mean you'll like. for all your questions answered (search first) head over to www.avsforum.com we'll take care of ya

That toshiba is a great choice. Hitachi makes some great CRT based RPTV's as well.

What's your budget and viewing distance?
