What to look for when buying a webcam?

A friend is moving to another state and we're going to keep in touch via webcams.

What to look for when buying one?

And anyone have recommendations on a basic one? (PC Mag doesnt have webcams in their Editor's choice page?!?!)

Look for brand name and price. These days its really hard to go wrong with a webcam so cost is pretty much the factor.

i did some research. apparently you want the sensor type to be CCD, and not CMOS.

Creative Labs Webcam NX Ultra has it. All other NX models (plain, pro, etc) uses CMOS.

and i found the NX Ultra for $38 At Dell Home+office, after tax and rebate. (free shipping till 12/31/04)
