I'm not a religious person at all, but I also don't feel the need to ridicule those who do.
On that we agree. I bet we agree on a lot of things. I believe that there should be some common sense rules of engagement between believers and non-believers and between believers of different faiths all predicated on the simple, undeniable fact that nobody wants to hear about other peoples delusions. I think all believers are delusional. All believers think we atheists are delusional. Muslims think Christians are delusional. Hindus think Jews are delusional. So rule one is to not talk about your personal delusions because nobody wants to hear it.
I will NEVER knock on somebodys door to try to convince them that their delusions are wrong and that mine are right and I ask for the same courtesy in return. Those that do knock on my door to tell me about why I'm wrong give up their right to not be told why they're wrong. I will not seek you out to tell a person that he's an idiot, but if he insists upon seeking me out to tell me that I'm an idiot I will most definitely tell him why, in great detail, he's an idiot. I believe that's fair. Do you agree?
I will NEVER start a thread about religion here and I will NEVER interject god or religion into a thread where it has not been brought up previously. I expect the same courtesy in return. You don't insist on telling me about your delusions and I won't point out that they;re delusions. If you force me to listen to your religious views you will get mine in return I believe that's fair. Do you agree?
I think that if a person with enough longevity here to be a moderator starts a thread about the blatherings of the pope in here instead of the proper folder he should realize what's going to happen and understand that the conversation can only go one direction. And I believe it's disingenuous to start a thread about the pope and then throw up your hands in mock outrage that the conversation went exactly where you knew it would go all along. Do you honestly want to make the case that you started a thread on the pope without knowing that someone would question it and that some believer would rush in to defend it? Really?
I believe in the golden rule, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Do you agree?
I believe that if the pope does unto me by telling me what I'm doing wrong then he has opened the door for me to do unto him in kind and to freely talk about his failures and those of the criminal organization he speaks for. Do you agree?
