What to get now that the BLU R1 HD is discontinued?

A few months ago I picked up a BLU R1 HD to replace my daughter's aging LG F3 or whatever it was. This was after I suggested the R1 HD to a coworker who's a WinPhone nut but wanted something that could handle pokemon go better than a $20 Verizon prepaid box phone. Needless to say, the R1 HD was an awesome phone.

"Was"...

I wanted to pick up another R1 HD for my son, who I had cloistered into a WinPhone for the last year after he broke his LG, among other reasons. I'm at the point where I've decided to "upgrade" his phone for xmas and settled on another R1 HD only to find out that it has been discontinued.

So here I am asking MDG for advice on something comparable to the R1 HD in price and performance. Is this even possible? Price point has to be around $50-$60 because frankly I see no need to spend more than that on a phone in general let alone one for a kid who has already demonstrated that he doesn't treat such things with the care that they need.

A model with double the RAM and storage is like $10 more.

Is there something specific about that model you're looking for? Because there's such a wide range of Blu phones available around the price point you're looking for.
The R1 HD is one of the best phones for the money in the Android market honestly. It's nothing to write home about, the the specs for that price point are ridiculous compared to other solutions. Plus it's essentially a stock android 6.0 experience.

Now I have the slight problem of figuring out how to get a second one since Amazon limits you two one per account.
