what to get as a graduation gift?

So my friend is graduating this month, and I wanted to get him something since it's his birthday this month too, plus christmas. I figure I can get him one gift and have it count for all three. However, I don't have the slightest clue what to get him. He doesn't have any real interests or hobbies aside from video games and basketball. I'd like to get him something he'd use too. Are there any typical graduation gifts (besides money, I'm still a ppor college student )? Any ideas would be helpful.

I thought about that, but then i'd have to get him a ps2 or xbox too. At the moment he just plays mine all the time.

I'm having the same problem, but I figured I'd just get him a nice Fossil watch. $60 or so

Man, he's already got a nice titanium watch that his brother gave him. Stupid older, richer brothers...

Dude, just go for it. Buy him a PS2. If you're a working stiff, that'd be a really nice gift that he could get a lot of use out of.

So far I bought one friend a Sirius Satellite radio, another friend a really nice humidor, and I'm not done yet.

It's nice to do something nice for someone every once in a while.
