What to eat to gain weight?

I've seen all these threads on getting in shape or trying to get built, but for me I kinda have to get some more weight before I can afford to sweat all my water away and turn some into muscle. What's a good thing to eat to gain weight, but still healthy and cheap/affordable @ the same time? I've been eating 3-4 eggs in the morning everyday for awhile now, trying to eat as much meat as possible, etc.

I've been trying to gain weight also. I've been eating anything and everything..I'm not too worried about what I eat (I could afford to put on a little fat). And remember, buffets are your friend 😛

I'm guessing you're skinny like me. I'm 125lbs @ 5'9

You know what though? I can bench 150 which is 25lbs more than I weigh. (and if i wanted, in a month i could bench 200) It's not all about trying to get big.... i've tried everything. It's all about eating A LOT of everything healthy and bulky. I highly recommend weight gainer 2000 while your busy STUFFING your face with food. You'll notice change, as long as you're working out it will all form right. It's also ALL ABOUT gaining strength. I could care less how much I weigh, again i've given up on gaining weight and switched to gaining strength. As long as you go to the gym everyday and lift, or every other day.... i recommend Trans-X with creatine in it (lime flavor is goood). ....i've been told if you can't find or afford that much to eat MRP (meal replacment powders / plan) Dude i'll tell you what... you have to choke those things down... i've thrown up from actually trying that stuff. I don't like it.

but good luck.

I tried the whole pizza/fast food thing, it worked a little bit but also caused me to break out like i've never done before, and i'm still recovering from it =(

midnight pizza will definitely put on some weight...
but i guess... it's not a healthy way to do it. 🙂

Don't eat that crap.....that will just get you fat, not big. Eat a lot of healthy food, like pasta, bread, meat, salad, milk, etc. That will get you big and healthy/strong.

I just eat whatever the hell is around me. I've gained like 5 lbs so far this summer.

Oh, and don't think eating tons of butter will help, my cholestoral jumped up! Good thing I couldn't afford more butter... 🙂 Yummy

i'm 5'7" and 115 lbs. i can bench 155 3 reps...hehe. i've been trying to eat a lot of things too, but thing is...i eat really really slow. i think that's my main problem. however, i've been trying to take protein shakes and weight gainer, along with eating tons of meat. it helped me to gain about 5 lbs in about 2-3 weeks, however, after i got my wisdoms pulled i lost 7 lbs in 2weeks =(...all that work for nothing...

Wow, if you can get your bench up 25% in one month, you certainly don't need to be hanging around here, go ahead and sign up as a personal trainer, there are a lot of powerliftings that would like to learn what you're doing.

When starting out, it's not hard to get your bench up 25% at all. But once you've been lifting a while it gets a lot harder to incrementally improve it.

I think it's more important that you eat more frequent than just watching what you eat. You should NEVER feel hunger if you eat constantly and keep in mind that gaining weight will mainly increase your gut and thigh area. If you really want to bulk up in the upper area, you need to work out.

If you want to gain weight, you're basically going to have to accept that you'll put on a bit of fat. Basically, you eat what you want (though stay away from the unhealthy things that'll raise your cholesterol and the like) and pack on a few pounds. Personal trainers I've talked to say that they generally go from 7% body fat in the summer (you know, bathing suit weather) to around 13-14% in the winter. Once february rolls around, they go back on the regular diet, and start turning that fat into muscle.

You could TRY to just eat a bit more, and put on straight muscle rather than fat. However, this generally takes longer than the above method. I've been doing it this way (i.e. never getting above roughly 8% body fat) for two and a half years, and have gained a whopping 10 pounds. Started out at 5'10" and 150 lbs, and now I fluctuate between 155 and 162 or so, depending on how much I've had to eat that day. As for strength vs. size: you really are aiming for both. Being a stick able to bench twice your body weight is about as bad as being obese and unable to crank out a push-up. You're looking for the perfect medium of size and strength.

Just follow me around and eat whatever I do. I'm a real tub 6'4" and 270-275!! Mostly around my gut too!! Very desirable!!

To add to your 3-4 eggs in the morning:

Fry up a bunch of bacon, then fry the eggs IN the bacon grease.

That'll fatten you up real nice 😉🙂

argh...I'm 175 and can't even bench my own weight. I haven't tried to, but I doubt I can do it. Fast food can really boost your weight, but it's not that good for you, so you might want to stay away from that. Just eat, eat, eat, and eat. 😛
