I dunno about that, chances are very good it won't be comparable to what they're used to. How many people and what city is this in? Look for a nice restaurant that will appeal to their palates, I can see most of the 1k being spent on dinner.

Japanese don't want to go to a fancy restaurant or sushi bar. They want to go to TGI Friday's.
 
We have Japanese co-workers from our sister companies here once in awhile and the things that they always want are pizza and chinese.

Screw sushi. I'm sure they get much better at home. Take them out for a good steak. Steaks are extremely expensive in Japan due to import tariffs, IIRC, so if you take them to a really good steakhouse it will be doubly nice.

Yeah...like an american travelling to Japan to just go to mcdonalds for every meal.

My wife likes BBQ here. We do eat sushi time to time. Her favorite is american buffets...they have some chinese food, sushi, pizza, chicken and everyother heart attack waiting to happen.

We went to Golden Corral for the first time two weekends ago. I thought the place would suck, but it was surprisingly good. I was done after 2-3 plates, my wife kept going for like 5-6. She is only 105lbs 🙂

In all honesty this is the best answer.

A decent dinner and strip club is perfectly acceptable and safe.
