What to do?

My roommate woke me up really early this morning. My roommate was late and needed a ride to get to work on time. So in my sleepy state, I backed into the building and the damage to the car is going to cost $1000+. Should I expect anything from my roommate for the car repairs?

If you were driving, you pay.

Right or wrong, you accepted responsibility to drive the car, and in doing so, it was your obligation to make certain you were at the time capable of doing so. You failed in that obligation, not your roommate.

Welcome to AT, btw... 🙂

I love the word "defenestrate." Such an odd word for the action it describes. ("The defenstration of Prague." hee hee) 🙂

If he has a roommate, perhaps that's who has the other active account? Would make sense...

I figure you may want to ask your roommate for a little bit, maybe 25%? He did contribute a little to your state of mind when the accident happened.

Thanks for the welcome. The whole account thing has been resolved, and it was my other roommate's account.

And yes defenestrating someone is great! 😀

Look at it this way....
If your roommate was injured because you crashed, you'd be liable for that too!
