What to do with old PC parts?

I'm getting ready to upgrade my PC soon, and this generally means I will no longer
use some of my former components. With previous upgrades, I decided to take the older parts and use them to assemble PCs for friends and family. But this time, I don't need to use them towards building another PC. I am interested in selling them perhaps, but I am unsure where to start. What kind of value can I expect older PC parts to have, and what is the criteria for determining that value?
I am not familiar with online trading and have purchased all of my components in retail condition. If you have any experience with online trading and recommend it- what are some things to watch out for or be aware of if you are new to it all? Is Ebay a decent option? What about the For Sale forum here at Anandtech?
Almost anything would be better than having old computer parts sitting in a closet, taking up space, and collecting dust for eternity. Basically, my question is- what do you do with your extra PC parts?

Just look for how much others are selling thesame parts for and then price yours about the same.
Lots of people like Ebay and lots of people like the forum here. See which one you like better.

Or, send the stuff to me. :)

Check out my thread in this forum about startin a little comp. repair 'business'...

In all seriousness however, if you want to get the most possible $$ out of your stuff, eBay is the way to go, lots of morons. Sold a used HP early generation p4 motherboard on ebay for 108 bucks. The 'certified technitian' bought it for his customer, who had a newer revision of the board which supported the prescott based celeron that was in it. Her USB ports had died. He paid 108 bucks for a motherboard that he just soldered off the usb ports. LOL

However, if you're looking to help people out while making a few bucks in the process, FS/FT is the way to go. :)

I have two old Compaqs at the house, and they are going to be converted to a crack rack for crunching SETI & other projects. :)

Make clocks out of the old parts. That is what I did with my old 286 and 486 motherboards
