What to do with extra 4Gb of RAM

I have a Thinkpad T23 that runs Debian testing and have been running with 768MB for years without any issues. But I don't use Gnome or KDE, I use a very good window manager called xmonad. That uses ~5MB ram, I could not get by with using this much if I used Gnome or KDE. For those the more ram the better. But yes having more ram does not hurt 😉

I'm assuming nothing, but there are lighter weight alternatives to Gnome and KDE. I personally run E16 at home but there are others.

I agree, gnome and KDE are getting out of control nowdays. I like XFCE now and its alot lighter weight and i find it easier to use. I used to use gnome for 1-2 years and before that KDE.
