I sold a mp3 player to this guy in France, the player works perfectly but now he is sending me this email lying about the player not working. If the player is not working how can he hear the "sound". I mean what's the best he can do? This guy has already kept buggin me with email even before the player is shipped.

Here's what he wrote:

"i have receibved the player and it doesn't work the sound is horrible, i want to be refund, i would prefer An amicable arrangement before to begin legal procedures, i wait your answre impatiently cordially. "

Give him a refund - after you get the player back in the same condition you sent it out in.

ignore him. If you really want to consider a refund then have him ship it back first. Anything less you can send his email to the spam box.

Normally, I would request that the person send it back at their expense and refund them their payment minus all fees (listing, shipping) and re-list it. However, if the first or second correspondence from them threatens "legal procedures", I?d probably tell them to shove it.

What legal options does the guy even have? To me it sounds like he just doesn't think it sounds good (probably put horrible bitrate uber crappy mp3s or something on it and then cranked the volume as loud as it would go).

You're not running a try before you buy service.

Does Ebay require that I have to refund? I don't want to since the player is new.

So is it broken or does he just not like the sound quality of the item? If it's new then why doesn't he just contact the manufacturer or warranty provider?

And he's in France and going to begin legal procedures for an MP3 player to a person (presumably) thousands of miles away on an entirely different continent?

Give a link to the auction. I think you should be fine unless you stated something such as "satisfaction guaranteed" or something similar.

Also, if you do come to an agreement, make sure that you receive and inspect the player before you refund his money. He could ship you a box of rocks.

yea eff him, he's in france
or better yet tell him to ship you the player back
then tell him you have a friend in france who owes you money, you have the cashiers check forwarded to him, he deducts the amount of the player he bought and wires you the difference :)

I would assume he just doesn't like the song that he put on.

I've sold quite a bit to international buyers including german, japan, they're usually pretty satisfied. This a rare occurence like in America.
Yea I had few Americans bitching about it as well and asking for immediate refunds
