what to do with an imac...

i have an imac in my house. it is my sister's but she moved out w/ her husband and left the thing behind. initially i was all hyped thinking "cool, now i can learn how to use macs". but being that the mac is right next to my pc, and being that i am a pc whore now, i am too lazy to investigate the mac. what do i do with it? is it really good for anything? anyone want to buy it? it a flaming red one (no pun intended). poor guy. it just sits there hogging up a port on my router. collecting dust. i must admit tho...mac's kick ass for dvd playback

I didnt think you were serious. And if I really wanted it I would have offered a decent amount. The blueberry ones are faster though

If it is just sitting there running, seriously give a look at putting a distributed computing program on it.

While Seti@Home is my prog. of choice, macs do not do the best in this area. The client is rather unoptimized as I understand.
There are many others to chose from. ECCp, UD, OGR, RC5, to name a few.

Drop by the Distributed Forum and ask what it will be best at. You'll get an answer from every camp , then you can decide for yourself.

It would probably do one of the encrytion type distributed clients better than seti.

The frankenmac was cool, but if you do a search on slashdot you can find out how to make it into a rackmounted server.
