Welp, my "spare" PC is a Celeron-433 and here's the list of things it does:

1 Maintains backup of router logs
2 IDE RAID array (main file server for the house)
3 Email terminal for visiting guests
4 Hosts LAN games like Neverwinter Nights and UT
5 Guest PC for LAN games like UT and Diablo 2

Gets constant use for #1 and #2. I have all my MP3s on that machine and play them via a Rio Receiver hooked up to my stereo. #3 is also very useful ... when guests come over and need to check email I let them check on the spare PC no problem without having to give them access to my main PC.

So basically if I can do all that with a measely Cel-433 imagine what your P3-500 can do!

Donate it to a daycare. Little kids would be thrilled to use it. Their games don't require much of a computer, 500mhz will be fast enough for them for years.

Friggin' real! Sponge Bob will run nice on a p 166 mmx!

Cheers!

After building my new machine, I'm giving my P3 500 to my sister to use since she doesn't currently have a computer.

Considering you can get a 2.53GHz Dell for $420 shipped... you ripped someone a new one. ;)

nobody made them buy either, as long as they were happy with the deal...

I just have it as a doorstop now
Give it to me!

Or, turn it into a Mail/Apache/Database server.

My main rig is a 533 Cel with 3 removable drive bays that I uses as a test rig for apps & OSes.
