Well definitely don't throw it away, that's just plain silly to throw away a working computer. If you can't think of anything to do with it, try to sell it on Craigslist or donate it. It's not cutting edge, but that would still make a nice little computer for somebody.

It's kind of overkill for a file server, but if I was able to get my hands on an older computer that's probably what I'd use it for.
 
give it to a young person in Iran or Palestine or America or maybe even Russia.

lots of people outside the US would love to own that computer.
 
Reading the replies, some were very insightful.

I'll look into the media streaming - it might be my new NetFlix/Hulu box. I think I could get $100 for it on CL. I don't want to invest money in it, so Blu-Ray and Gfx are out the window.

I was thinking about that, too. Spray paint the entire thing black and put one of those magnetic 7" USB screens on it - make it an iTunes jukebox.
