When I find someone cheating or trying to cheat on a gameserver I run/admin I either kick them, ban their IP or ban their MAC addy. (Most people idiotic enough to get their kicks cheating are too stupid to learn how to fake MAC addys) Then I figure out how they were cheating and mod the game accordingly.

i never understood the point of cheating in online games.
not that i understand cheating in games ive paid for to play single player, either. seems like it detracts from the whole fun of it.
i cheated through the matrix game, though. that game sucked.

What games do you play?

Mostly Tribes, Tribes 2, UT2k3, UT2k4 when I get around to buying it. When Tribes: Vengance hits the shelves I'll be spending all my time modding it. A little Red Faction, though that game was really easy to cheat in when in multiplayer. Example: some guy downloaded a clientside mod, which featured zero-gravity levels, etc. He installed it, played it, got bored and went back to some regular games. Somehow the installation of the mod messed up some stuff, and when he was playing on unmodified servers he was still able to fly. Yup. No serverside dominance in that game. Whatever the client says, goes. Most of us didn't care, since he sucked anyway. All it meant was that we had to look up a little more to get our kills.

Some guy is playing a game and a moderator-of-sorts sees that he's cheating. He announces to the whole damn gaming floor that they found a cheater and the place goes crazy. It's hilarious. They take his pc, kick him out, and throw his computer into the parkinglot where it absolutely flies apart when it hits the pavement. The guy was like "I wasn't cheating! I ... I wasn't!" :laugh:
