If you are talking government services and such yes that would be true. But boxing day is pretty much the busiest retail day of the whole year here in Canada.

Not in europe ... we've been in London during boxing day 3 times, frankfurt 1 time, and they are pretty much closed, until noon, and if even!

I had a four hour layover in O'Hare once... man, that was quite boring. Too short of a layover to actually do anything (given you'll have to go back through security) and just long enough to bore you :p. If I didn't have to drive home when I got back, I would've probably had some alcohol.

Wow didn't know that. Don't you guys in the states also hold Boxing day type sales like we do in Canada? Boxing day here is often busier than Christmas. Many retailers save their best sales for Boxing day, usually clearing old older inventory and the like.

BLack Friday, but totally different day...after Thanksgiving. I don't think a whole lot happens after xmas. Not like in Europe.

The FAA and FAA regulations aren't going to help you here, theres not really much that applies.

Best bet is to call the Airline and ask them what they can do, volunteer to go on standby for earlier flights. You may be lucky enough to get a CSR that'll work with you

QFT, there is a big difference in knowing you will have a layover prior to flight than landing and being told you will have one.

In the latter case, you have a lot more room and most will already have accommodations lined up.

I have had to book flights with 7-10 hour lay overs just because I had to be in the air that day and working by the next.

Us Americans actually have toys we want to play with after Christmas and not just return ;)

Us Canadians have shit that was bought for us for Christmas that we don't want and we return it for shit that's on super sale that we actually want. :awe:

Couldn't you change the first flight segment (that arrives in Chicago) to a time closer to 9 AM & keeping the existing reservations for the 2nd flight segment "as is"?

carry ten or fifteen rolls of bubble wrap to just sit and pop, and be the envy of everyone around you :)
