what to do next?

Ok, i took out the ATI 3D Rage IIC PCI and put in an S3 Virge. This card gives me the same message

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Is this just a coincidence that both video cards happen to have the drivers included with windows XP and both give me the same error message or am i missing something here. Both cards are PCI. I tried the Rage in two different PCI slots, made no difference. Reinstalled the driver several times, made no difference. Is there a setting in windows that i have to change to allow multiple video cards/monitors? Whats goin on here? Is there a jumper on the motherboard or something. This is driving me nuts.

KK266-R mobo btw

suggestions/ideas welcome

what drivers?mobo etc?

sorry bro but not enough info to help much sorry

Not sure about the bios thing, i went in to it and looked around, but i didn't find much, and i didn't want to mess with it and lose my display.

The device shows up in device manager and gives this error:

This device cannot start (Code 10).

I tried a Rage IIC PCI and a S3 ViRGE, both give me the same error code so i'm thinking maybe there's something in the bios i have to change but i don't know what to change and i don't want to mess it up.

Both of those video cards are PCI.

System Specs:

AMD Thunderbird 1 ghz @ 1ghz
Iwill KK266-R motherboard
384 MB of Crucial Ram
Asus GeForce 2 MX 400 64 MB (Primary card)
Integrated sound
Maxtor 40 gig HD
Windows XP Windows 2K (dual boot)

if there's more that would help PM me and i can tell you the rest, not sure what you need. or it's in my system rig profile

I installed the Rage IIC PCI first, windows XP detected it, installed the driver, and gave me the error code above. I tried it in a different PCI slot, same problem. So i took that card out and put in the S3 ViRGE. Booted up, windows XP detected it, installed the driver, same error code.

I checked out the ATI website and it said that the drivers for the Rage IIC PCI were on the Windows XP CD. You can look at it here.

Couldn't find a thing on the S3 ViRGE but i want to use the Rage II anyways.
I'm pretty sure the cards were seated properly because it detected them every time, and i tried reseating the Rage card. I'd really like to try this dual monitor thing out. If you need to know what the options are in bios i'd be glad to check them out when i get home and post them up here for ya. Thanks for replying.

Tried bootin up under Windows 2k, and windows recognized the Rage IIC PCI card and installed it, no conflicts, blah blah blah, but the monitor still did nothing, so i had to go to class so i left. Came back and looked at the card and there's jumper on it that was set at Disable, so i set it at Enable, started up the computer, booted up in Win 2k, got just past the startup screen and theres nothing, no mouse cursor, just a greyish black screen. What's going on now?
