The lady and I will be coming from spending two nights in & around Niagara Falls. Well, it's overnight so we have 1.5 day.

1. What's a famous food relatively unique/special in Toronto? (Cheesesteak to Philly, Poutine to Montreal, Chowder to Boston)

2. Touristy things? St Lawrence Market, CN Tower, Harbourfront Centre, uhh what else?

3. Anything else as activities? A must-see scenes/places/to dos?

I'm doing the usual wiki and tripadvisor, but as always I'd love to hear directly from you guys.

What's the cultural landscape of Toronto? Does it have a big Chinese community?

My own Boston has a good dim sum.. so is NY.

It's a very diverse city with a large Chinese population. The best restaurants for dim sum are in Richmond Hill.

I've visited Toronto a lot, but I'm not a native.

What do you like to do?

Anything I guess. We're just a typical couple in our late 20s who just wants to 'experience' Toronto enough to say "we were there".

So I guess it'd be touristy things. BUT I'm hoping someone can tell me a must-do. :) We're open to all.

So there is a Chinatown in Toronto which is in Richmond Hill area?

Chinatown is the Spadina Ave. and Dundas St. area. The Art Galery is on the east end. Richmond Hill is where rich Asians go to live. Classic suburbia; no public transit, car required, littered with plazas.

If you want to "experience" Toronto, go to Yonge St. and Dundas St., walk down Yonge until you hit Queen St. and walk west until you hit Spadina St. That's a major shopping/tourist area and takes you through part of downtown.

Alternatively, go north on Yonge St. up to Bloor St., another shopping area with very expensive stores (actors/movie people shop here often). The museum is in this area too. The University of Toronto campus is centred along St. George St., which is a few blocks west of Yonge.

if you are going to St Lawrence market, get a peameal bacon sandwich.

Which day are you hitting Toronto. Just so I can hide you understand.

Really depends on what kind of stuff you want to do.

There's a small India town on Gerrard Street. I usually go to the Skylark for lunch when I'm in town.

If you like art, the AGO usually has good travelling exhibits.

We like to go for festivals - Carribean Fest, Taste of Danforth, etc. Check out if there are any festivals when you're in town.

Richmond Hill has the best dim sum, but some of the places in downtown are pretty good. If you just have 1 day, stick DT .
