call the police then talk to the supervisor while you wait for the police to arrive. Also try to keep the other party there until the police arrive.

1. supervisor
2. police
3. hospital (here if you get hurt at work you get the whole day off with pay :D)
4. send some of my friends over to their house later to "teach them a lesson" ;)

edit: then i'd start a thread about the whole ordeal.

Politely as the asshole to leave, and promptly report it to the boss after you had cool down so you can form an intelligent conversation. Ask bystander to jot down what they have seen or heard, and try your best to write down the incident.

File a formal written complaint to your boss & the police, and seek legal advice if it needs to be escalates to that level.

I have been in that situation before when a black co-worker punch me at work in front of others. I didn?t file a complaint because I feel sorry for him (he was a refugee from the Caribbean & don?t know how to read or write). He latter claim that I was prejudice & call him name that why he punch me.

The reason the boss given him his 2-week notice is because the boss daughter was a secretary that works with me, and she complaint of the situation to her father. The boss daughter saw the whole incident, and she feel that we can?t not have violent people on the premises that could causes problem for other people & the company. And, she feel it is not right for me to swallow the problem when it is company problem.

It causes me a lot of grief and soul searching, because I was questioning my sorry feeling for him. Could it be my motive of being prejudice that why tried to help the guy, turn a blind eye on his tardiness, and drove him home a few times that he misses his bus?

I was a manager and a few workers reported to me that this person has been seeing smoking pot & drinking while on the job. I have seen him & his friend missing from their post a few times, and their production was low (he only had been working for 4 months) which I turned a blind eye to because he went to the same church as my boss. It was a hard task to ask them to increase production with out telling them that their job is on the line, and I couldn?t fire their lazy ass because those guys were hired directly by my boss.

The even got ugly because I confront the guy in my office and ask him to better his production. And, I also mentioned that smoking drug & drinking on the premises is prohibited. He was angry and embarrassed to be told by me that he is incapable of working hard, and his substance abuse is not tolerated. His denial was confronted with my notes of the times that he was not seen at his post, and also what others has told me.

It took every bit of my will power to control my self from cursing at him or hitting the guy back. I was shaking with anger & had to take a 15 min break to calm down before getting back to my office.

If that situation ever arise again I would have nail the guy in the throat then call the police & file a formal complaint and claim it as self defence.

She's right, folks (well, the first three anyway). All you people with extreme measures are going to either get fired along with the guy who punched you, or get slapped with assault charges along with the guy who assaulted you. I seriously hope this doesn't happen to people who think they should just hit back! :Q

We have panic buttons on our radios, or we say "code 99", and every policeman in the area will rush to us. Code 99 or the panic button is like saying "officer down" or "under fire", you get EVERYBODY there. It is not used lightly, and I have only used it once.

We had a deranged patient that was taking swings at us just off the las vegas boulevard, and assaulted one of my partners. We called it out and within a minute a metro officer came screaching in, up onto the curb with his car. The guy leaped onto the metro cars hood and windshield, the officer jumped out and started in with his baton with the guy. That did nothing and as soon as the officer threw his baton aside (no way were we going to get hit, lol) we all pounced on the guy. Just as we had him down and cuffed about 15-20 other officers were there, including the highway patrol.

Right after that the cop (first on scene) asked if anybody had it recorded (we had quite a crowd at that point) and nobody did. He said to us "great, a nice clean take-down and nobody got it...", because they always get the Rodney Kings' on tape. Turns out the guy was a schizo on drugs, good old vitamin H to the rescue. (haldol, and IV at that)

Had a few other scuffles with patients that we had to subdue, but none like that guy.
