Ok, the a@@holes that live in the apt. below me do this about once a week, and apparetnly are going to do it more than once this week, they come home at 2,3,4,5 or 6 am and play music so loud it shakes the floors and the beds and everything else, making it F-ing impossible to sleep. I ask them to stop, turn my music up, yell, nothing works, ideas would be greatly appreciated, i'm debating spending the money and hiring a hitman, i think the expense would be justified

if its loud enough to shake your floor.. then it has to annoy other people in your apartment too... do the people next to you hear them? perhaps you could talk to apartment landlord or whoever and see about getting them kicked out unless they stop being so annoying. I've known people who have been kicked out of apartments before becuase neighbors complained so much.

problem is it's a house, with only us and the guys below us, and i'm at one end of the house, the other girl at my end of the house sleeps like a bear, and doesn't wake up for anything, and she had already been asleep, if she had been awake, she flips out too, as for talking to the landlord, been there, done that, and since he's not here at 5am or so any nights, he never hears it, so i dont know what to do

<< Call the police.... >>

might work.. say the people below you are making a lot of noise, possible suspecious activity.. if nothing else they can get some kind of noise violation or disturbing the peace violation.

i did'nt want to resort to that, but if it keeps up past 5am i'm going to, i need some sleep, i think i'm becoming an insomniac anyway, so this kind of thing doesn't help

call your manager and tell hiim that if YOU can't sleep, then you'll keep on calling him until he does something about it.

also, call the police as well.

and flip the fuses on the fusebox!

well, problem solved for now, it sounds llike they finally passed out, but i have to go talk to the landlord tomorrow anyway, i thinkmaybe i'll just give him a friendly reminder about the "great gents" i have living below me

the fuse box idea would be a good one, except they live below me and i'd have to walk past their door to get to the fuse box, otherwise, why not.

also, i'm thinking since i know thier exam schedule, i go crash at my buddies house next week for anight and leave my system on all night, my sound rivals theirs, so i'm sure if theirs keeps me up it'll go both ways, is that being too mean??? (HELL NO!!!)

i'm going to sleep soon (thank god), i planned on going shopping tomorrow and using some of those coupons that are floating around for old navy and such,

and i still say the hitman idea was the best one,,,even if not entirely cost effective

Document with a video camera that has audio when they play music, preferrably at improper hours of the day or night, get several different days on video. Ideally, you should also document just how far away from the home you can hear this music, like out near the street.

DO NOT RETALIATE by playing your music loud. Do not threaten your neighbors or retaliate, you'll only end-up committing a wrong that may come back and bite you. Send a letter (return receipt) to them with asking politely to stop playing the music so loud between x - x hours, because you're having trouble sleeping. Send a letter (return receipt) to your land-lord explaining your problem. Keep copies of the letters, and any responses. Anytime that you talk with either your land-lord or neighbors, document the time, place, and what was said. Go to the police and ask to file an excessive noise complaint against them, if for nothing more than to document that you have tried to pursue relief through every lawful avenue.

Then, once you have collected all these things in abundance, file a lawsuit naming both your land-lord and neighbor. They will have ZERO defense to this, and the more that you can document that they persisted in playing the music loud during those times, and that your land-lord did nothing, the worse it will be for them. Ask for damages; mental anguish, stress, a partial refund of your rent every month in which you experienced a sleepless night, whatever. Ask for the maximum amount allowed in small claims court and let the judge decide what is fair.

Otherwise, move or live with it.

Try figure out when they go out.If you know they've gone out for a night of partying,go down and snap a different key off in thier door.So they can't get back in.
If they make alot of noice trying to get in,phone the cops and report a breakin';)
