What to do about cars that parallel park against your car?

I drive what could be considered a nice car (an Audi TT). Occasionally I visit places where I must park on the street. Know this, I try to find spots where I don't need to squeeze into (out of respect for my car and others). And I try to park in spots that only allow for one car or 2 cars (sandwiched by driveways, so one person has plenty of room to back out and the other person has plenty of room to pull forward).

Now.. once in a while, some schmuck will park their car right against mine -- like tonight. And he had another good 2-3 feet in front of him before a driveway! This pisses me off to no end, because there really isn't anything I can do about it (that and somebody else did it just a couple week ago). I don't have any intentions of damaging the other persons car. I know I hate it, and there is no reason I should do the same to another person. I'm not going to key their car, because I know how much that cost me/insurance ($1000+ easily).

I've taken some pictures and printed one out, and am going to leave a little note on the back of it asking/telling them to respect other people's property. I can only hope that they don't become upset and key my car (but I've got pictures of them parked on me, and their license plate)... <shrug>

Is there really anything I can do? To really repair it would require me to repaint the front piece. And luckily for me the license plate piece (where the plate would attach to if I put it on) receives most of the damage, and I can remove it and paint it separately. But even then it'll probably cost me a good $100 to get it sanded, color matched, etc..

arghhh...

i hate this as well. i was shocked when my friend said 'bumpers are for bumping'. i told him what the hell are you a freaking idiot? it irritates the heck out of me but i don't have any idea what to do except avoid places where i have to parallel park.

I don't live anywhere with that kind of parking and don't even really see it in St. Louis, just like Chicago, but it would irriate me alot. I think I'd just leave a note under their wiper blade that says you think they're an asshat and should quit doing that. Hopefully someone will knock the crap out of 'em one day too 😀

I hate this too. The worst are the f'ing SUVs. Somebody parallel parked right up on my car's ass (CL), and their bumper must've been above mine, because there's a nice scratch along the top of my bumper and a dent in my trunk. :| Fscking idiots.

Get a pickup truck, put a brush gaurd on it, and just bump them out of the way. Once thier car makes deliberate contact w/ yours, anything goes.

Thats why
A) A have a POS daily driver. i really dont CARE if you key my car, scratch my bumper, spray paint it, hit it etc etc. Its a freakin Taurus man.
B) Have a big SUV for my nice car. Go 'head, come bump my bumper. You'll end up hittin your trunk or hood. 🙂

Wait, your post didn't make any sense.

Did someone hit you or not? 😕

Costed is not a word, unless you're refering to the acronym for Committee On Science & Technology in Developing Countries

Yeah....

I don't want to get started on this, but out neighbor across the street parks infront of our house. He, his wife, his son, his daughter, and all of his friends park infront of our house, even though they have a driveway. He drives a huge SUV, and parks so that he ruins like 3 spaces.

Ahhhh, I get pissed off to easily. I shouldn't get stressed over stuff like that.

If you leave him a note with all your details, and he leaves without contacting you ... you have grounds to file a hit and run with the police. You have proof that he bumped your car, plenty of evidence to get the driver in trouble.

My friend has a POS Neon. One time we went to go have lunch at the University Cafeteria. It was packed in the parking lot so we parked on a back street about 2 blocks away. No cars around at the time.

We get back, and someone has parked in front of him backing up real close. Someone behind him had pulled up real close as well. This left him NO room to get out.

He got pissed and, well, bump bump 😀

Sometimes it is nice to have a POS car 😛

Nah, I don't think that he's ever hit me, but he has closed me in pretty tight.

Well of course u can do something - if they damage your car (make a scratch on your bumper) it is their duty to pay for the repair. So if they damaged your car tell them to pay - if they refuse - the police will fix them up....
