What to do about ant infestation

I have a SERIOUS ant problem in my apt

At first it was OK with some ants now and then I would just kill them..

Then if I ever found a trail of ants on my carpet I would spray them.

Now there are multiple trails..they are coming out of MY bathroom (from under the linolium)

That just means there must be a million ants living in the WALLS of my apt (and likely the rest of the complex too!) Is it the managers responsibilyt to spray insecticide?

How would they kill the colony within the walls of the building?

I had the same problem man. I poured olive oil down the hole they were coming from and suffocated em all. LOL No more ants!

o man that pic is nothing compared to my apt...

i thot i had them under control friday...
i left the house for a couple hours and when i come back there is a THICK trail from my bathroom into the kitchen

they got into the kitchen trashcan and into the sink on the dirty dishes (damn roommate never washes dishes)

it's disgusting..the trails are VERY thick with ants...it's like they live in my house.

Here's what we used to do back in some of the houses we lived in during college. Make a mixture of honey and ammonia or bleach and leave it in a bowl near where the ants are. They will eat the goop, take it back and feed it to the other ants/larvae/etc... and then the queen herself. In a day or two you will see no more ants....EVER!!! One of my roommates had an uncle who was an exterminator and this is what he suggested to us. We tried it, it worked, and now it's my S.O.P. for dealing with ants.

Mix Boric Acid Powder (Think: laundry booster, Borax "20 Mule Team&quot with sugar, make it into a wet paste on aluminium foil (so it isn't too messy) and leave it near the ant's pathway for a few days. It will eliminate sugar eating ants. For oil-eating ants, mix the powder with cooking oil (it's less effective but still works).

Edit: Best ratio I found is 1 part Borax to 3 parts sugar. Enough water to make a paste. The ants love it and will cover the foil. Then take it back home . . . and die.

I agree with the honey and bleach... good idea. Also, call your landlord. She/He really should do something about the problem and have someone out to spray.

My dad used to have these granules that would work wonders against ants... sprinkle them on the ground and in a day the entire colony was dead. Then they were banned by the EPA...

Get a bug bomb, and go stay with a friend for the weekend
and BOMG the hell outa the ants..... those things kick ass.......
if they're still there. you got bigger problems

We have this EXACT same problem! The little bastards are under the bathroom appliances, around the sink, and in the pantry. They chewed through a brand new bag of cereal. We're currently attempting a mix of Mellow Yellow, bleach, and flour. Remember kiddies, NEVER mix the bleach and Amonia.
