What to clean my CRT with?

My IBM P260 21" is now a couple of months old so naturally the surface of the screen has gotten a little dirty. I want to clean it off but I've heard that using a damp cloth (like I always did with my other monitors) might damage it over the long run. I want to be extra-careful, so what should I use?

Is there any household item I can use? I'd rather not buy screen wipes, but if I have to...

We just use Windex at work, and we haven't had a problem with our 500-odd CRTs there.

I use window cleaner. Mr. whatever.
Since my CRT's first layer of glass really is a piece of glass, it's all right.

If you have an anti-glare coating on your screen, DO NOT use any glass cleaner product with ammonia in it. Most all Windex products have ammonia unless they specify that it has vinegar instead. I myself use some Windex auto glass/interior spray that doesn't have ammonia.

I use soft toilet paper moistened with water to clean my laptop screen; I'm sure that'll be fine for any CRT as well.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it has an anti-glare coating...so, no Windex.

Would water damage the anti-glare coating?

What about rubbing alcohol? I heard that somewhere, just curious if that'd work as well...

just use water and a paper towel. go over it with a damp towel, and then once more with a dry towel
