NO...Windex is too scarey!!

Read the manual but I'm sure they would recommend just a nice, soft, lint-free cloth...if you really, really need to get crap of the screen, try wetting the cloth with a little water.

hahah--that should work (just make sure it's nice and strong so you don't get little pieces all over that expensive monitor of yours.

Standard 70% rubbing alcohol (isopropyl or ethanol based) works fine and won't harm most plastics (make sure no additives like wintergreen oil or glycerine). Most bunghole paper will leave lint all over the screen. Some of the newer paper towels claim to be lint-free and are generally soft enough as to not scratch the plastic. If you want the best, get some Kimwipes at a lab or medical supply house. They are LINT FREE! Use a VERY light touch on the screen as it is just a semi-liquid between two sheets of plastic.

Try one of those soft eyeglass cleaner cloths. Get it at any lens crafter for $5.

Water is a good way to clean you LCD.
You could also buy a laptop screen cleaner
in your local computer shop. They usually carry one.

LCD screen is not that brittle, it has glass coating on it
but don't try hitting with metal :)
like me, I hit my laptop screen with a s-video cable connector
and now I have a small hole in my screen.

Comet and steel wool. :D j/k

It depends on what you want to clean. If it's simply to do some light to moderate dusting (no 'gunk'), then you with some toilet paper or those lint-free wipes. I bought a diaper-wipe canister of the Kensington all-purpose wipe variety and the material is durable, lint-free, and contains some percentange of isopropyl. It's great on the LCD screen and other plastic surfaces.

If you're looking to wipe off hardened food, I take some of those Kensington wipes, douse it with a little more isopropyl, and *gently* scrub at that one spot.

edit: what, no evil grin smiley?

I personally use a soft cloth on my laptop screen, and if there is something that I can't remove with that I will slightly wet the cloth with water and use that.

Windex=bad

some of the large round (expensive) CD wipes are lint free and so state on the cardboard box. i have found the ones in the black plastic container too abrasive - you can test on the bottom of an old cd by rubbing circles.

After you've clean it you might want to invest in a plastic protector they place over the screen. I live in Japan and they have them over here. It works perfect for my 15.1" LCD. It basically uses static to stick into the screen and can easily be removed for cleaning while at the same time maintaining your LCD clean and improve contrast.
