What to buy ?

Hi everyone....Im about to embark on a mission and I would like a response from you smart people about hardware. Here's what Im working with. I will have to get everything I need for no more than a $1000 dollars. I already have the monitor, keyboard and stuff. I must need to build the computer itself. My question is what would you buy if you only had a $1000 to spend. Thanks for your time.

Depends on which CPU you want. Celeron, Duron, Pentium III, or T-bird. For $1,000 you can build a nice system with RAID and a very good video card. I spent about $1,200 for mine (90 GB HD 100-RAID, 384 PC133 RAM, Duron 800, KT7-Raid, ATI AIW Radeon 32MB, Plextor 12X/10X/32X, SB Live 5.1 amont other things).

hell, go to newegg.com and play with their site a bit and pick out the necessary components for a system you want and chances are you'll be pleased with what you can get for $1000. of course, i'd go with an AMD based system, as they're much cheaper and have excellent performance. leave yourself an extra $100 in your budget to factor in things you forgot, like weird cables, fans, misc stuff.
