I'm about to buy a new processor but I'm confused as to what type I should get. I'm also on a bit of a budget so I need something reasonably cheap that I can overclock maybe.

Get a 600 - 700 MHz Duron and an ABIT KT7 or ASUS A7V.

If you're gonna buy just a cpu then how much you can overclock is goining to depend on what platform (motherboard) you have. The chances of finding a board and cpu for less than $100 is almost 0, $150 gives some choices but not many as far as overclockable ones, $200 and the world is yours (well for a budgeted system anyway).
