Hello everyone,

My Shuttle AK31 v3.1 just died yesterday and I am in urgent need of a new mobo. I have an Athlon XP1800+ which I will probably be upgrading in the next couple of months so I was debating whether to get a KT333 or KT400. Logic would say to go with the KT400 because of the new technology. If so, which model in particular would be the best to buy? Asus, MSI, Soyo? I need to buy it this weekend and I cannot make up my mind!

Please help me! :)

I have Soyo Dragon ultra. I am quite pleased with all around. I am still trying to find the perfect mem settings though. Most all the benches that I've run, ( Dacris in particular ) indicate that the mem, HDD and Video are too fast for the CPU. A good thing. Also supports 333 and 400 FSB for the 2800+ to be released.........Some Day........

Totally upgradeable as I was the fastest thing going until I got this Board. 1 CPU and a little config time later, and I'll be on top again. Even at the lowest of the low BIOS settings, this board and system score 7586 in 3Dmark 2001 se. My personal best OCing the mem is 10688 in BIOS 2nd release.

Not bad for an OAKIE.

Thanks Teqwiz, I was actually thinking about this Soyo. I guess I might as well go for a KT400 at this point. Although I am debating whether to go for the Soyo, Asus, or MSI. On board LAN would be nice for me.

kiriath, I'm contemplating same thing as you, (which board?). On board LAN =nice, yes . But, I can pick up a decent(D-link or Linksys) nic card for about $10 on sale through hot deal forum. So, for me I'm looking for a combo (best value) of performance, stability & price.I'm a cheap bastard (loves the hot deal forum). Do you want proven track record of a little older chipset or try the KT400??:)
