Ideally, the meal would be:

- easy, quick and cheap to make
- tasty
- protein-heavy
- low-sugar
- abundant in calories
- edible without reheating

Alas, one cannot eat tuna or egg salad for lunch every day. Recommendations?

Well, I typically make a kidney bean/black bean mix with some seasoned ground turkey or beef. I add a bit of spinach on the side, a cheese stick, some cucumber and hummus - whatever I want. Beans are relatively calorie dense and have some good protein. You can weigh heavy on the meat for more protein. Also, you can pair a protein shake with that or add some nuts/seeds on the side (super calorie dense). I personally love sunflower seeds without the coverings. If you go to Trader Joe's (assuming you have one nearby), you can get a pound of them for $2. When I was doing a slight bulk, they were a staple in my diet.

I pack lunch about 3-4 days a week. I do a combination of turkey sandwiches, roast beef sandwiches, PBJ, tuna, and generally a side of yogurt (unless I'm cutting, then its bye bye yogurt).

Chili is a godsend for me. Full of protein. Might not taste as good cold, but still quite edible and still pretty tasty.

No microwave at work?

Chili is great and not that unwholesome if you use low-fat beef, lots of beans and don't pile on cheese & sour cream.

Natural peanut butter and jelly. If you have access to a refrigerator, cottage cheese and fruit is great, but only if you like cottage cheese. Some people (SociallyChallenged) can't get past the texture and the thought of the phrase "moist curds."

i usually eat a 3 egg sandwich at work. 3 eggs overeasy 2 slices of whole wheat toast. maybe add some salt/pepper? Straight out of the fridge. ~ 430 calories.
