What tire to get for my 03 Mitsu Galant?

I live in Southern California and in total we have very little rain, but once in a while we do get heavy rain. I travel almost exclusively on the highways 36 miles each way to downtown LA. I wanted to buy good tires but i'm not sure which one to get. I also only need 1, the other front tire is about 1.5 years old which isn't bad, it still has good treads. The back ones are pretty decent I can get about 10K more miles out of them. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks.
