What timings does Corsair XMS3200-C2 run at 166MHZ?

Well my memory runs fine at 200mhz at 2-3-3-6 timings on my overclocked 2500+. When I Lower the memory to 166MHZ a which is stock for the barton and set the timings to 2-2-2-5, it fails memtest and prime after a few seconds. It hought the timings for 166MHZ were 2-2-2-5? It's looing like I have devective ram.

Not necessarily. try 2-2-3-5. I don't recall corsair providing a timings spec for the pc3200c2 at 166mhz. the performance difference between 2-3-3-6 and 2-2-2-5 is virtually non existant anyway. Corsair xms pc3200c2 is rated 2-3-3-6 at 200mhz no rating is given for 166mhz therefore you have gotten what they advertised.

My stick doesn't like to go below 6 in it's 2-2-6-2 configuration, but it'll do 2-2-6-2 up past 400mhz. Assumedly that's the reason Corair doesn't specify on that particular latency.

166 Mhz (2-2-2, 1T command rate?

that means that the ram was tested to be reliable at those speeds in the motherboard thay were using for testing at that time. what board are you using? If it is that important to you then request an rma. why did you buy pc3200 to run it at pc2700 speeds anyway? I wouldn't necessarily say the ram is defective. if it works properly at it's rated speed but has problems with tighter timings at a lower speed it could very well be something to do with the motherboard itself when used with that ram. I am assuming you are using an Nforce2 board which are well known for being picky a when it comes to ram and timings in some cases.

NesuD pretty much nailed it.

We know Corsair makes good quality DDRAM, and your board-maker probably makes excellent boards - but they may not play well together. The issue is compatability - not quality.

My Corsair TWINX 3200C2 was capped at 207MHz with 2/3/3/7 timings, best memory bandwidth at 2/3/3/9, in sig system.

Cheaper memory currently in sig system (Winbond CH-5 chips) runs 2/2/2/5 to 222MHz, 2.5/2/2/7 to 230MHz, best memory bandwidth at Tras 9. Clearly, my board memory controller likes Winbond memory chips.

Find a motherboard brand-specific (Asus, Epox, etc.) forum and spend some time determining what memory is most compatible with the memory controller used by your motherboard.

Hope this helps!

From the Corsair XMS3200-C2 spec sheet:
This memory has been verified to operate at 200MHz (2-3-3, 1T command rate) and 166 MHz (2-2-2, 1T command rate).
I guess "verfied to operate" doesn't mean the same as "guaranteed to operate". It only means it can operate at those speed/timings in certain mb's, but not necessarily all mb's.
