What time would you expect to have brunch on a Sunday?

We ended up going to 'brunch' with friends on Sunday at 1pm. My take is that that isn't brunch - thats lunch and a slightly late one at that.

I would expect to have brunch around 10 or 11. It is very late to have brunch at 1, but brunch is defined by the foods served, not the time it is held.

Brunch is bullshit invented by bum drunks who spend the morning nursing hangovers. Decent people get up and eat breakfast at a reasonable hour and go about their day.

trick question, brunch in general is fucking stupid.... drink some fucking booze if you want some booze instead of stupid mimosas. That and you might as well fucking just call it lunch if you're eating at 11.

Do you like anything?

I'd say 10 is the ideal time. Then it can legitimately replace two meals and you still have plenty of time to go about the rest of your day after.

This is the total bullshit part about brunch. It does not replace two meals; it delays breakfast to accommodate the turpitude of the inebriates.

YMMV ... it replaces two meals for me. It's especially welcome because lunch is the worst meal of the day. I get up at a reasonable time on weekends and delay breakfast no matter what for this reason.

I was just looking for a reason to write, "the turpitude of the inebriates." 😀

A) Getting drunk is fun
B) Brunch is the best dining experience one can have
C) Day drinking after a long night of drinking is fun

Brunch has become so popular with classic yuppies and aging hipsters that it is impossible to get a brunch table before noon-thirty, without a decent advance reservation. We have simply redefined our meal timings, because it is just cooler to do brunch than it is to do lunch.

Pretty much what I was going to say. Brunch is more about the food choices than the times any more. If you are indecisive on what you want to eat and want to drink, fuck it, brunch don't care.

I dunno
I always thought "brunch" was just a early lunch, like between 10-11ish

But these days, it seems to have taken a different meaning, seems like brunch at lots of places is when you have "breakfast foods" at "lunchtime"

I do not believe in assigning certain types of food to certain times of the day.

I call meals as follows: The first meal I eat is my breakfast.
The second meal I eat is my lunch.
The Third meal I eat is my dinner.

Most days, that means breakfast around 12-1 and lunch around 7pm, and usually no dinner.

Everybody else thinks that's weird, but I don't care.

Does the restaurant serve breakfast and lunch items at 1pm? If so its brunch.

Eh, places that serve breakfast foods in the evening don't call it 'Brinner' and not all the 'Brunch' places I've seen serve lunchy foods during their Brunch so its always seemed more about the time of day than the specific foods

10:00, If I am skipping breakfast I am not waiting until 11:00. I get up early during the week and my normal breakfast is at 6:30. 10:00 and I am starving!

except the point of brunch is this is a place that doesn't normally serve breakfast all day, that suddenly serves breakfast at lunch time. Everyone gets this..

and not all the 'Brunch' places I've seen serve lunchy foods during their Brunch

then they're serving...breakfast.

I'm not talking about places that serve breakfast all day. I'm talking about places I've been to that sometimes does a dinner menu where its a mix of traditional dinner options and traditional breakfast options or a chef's rotating 'fresh food' menu that does breakfast foods during dinner on the weekends for a while.

then they're serving...breakfast.

They seem to disagree. I've been to quite a few places around the US that do 'brunch' but its basically a breakfast buffet with a roast and thats it.
