What time will it have to be for you to call in a noise complaint?

Ok, so it just hit 11pm here and its saturday in a college town. I'd normally accept this at my old apartment because of the fact that they were all 3 bedrooms and it could be expected. But, I've just moved into a complex of 1 bedrooms and I guess 2 frat wh0re sluts live right under me. I'm gonna give them another half an hour before I let them deal with my 600 watts. Considering I live above them, I'd say I have the advantage.

So, vote in the poll. 🙂
 
I've never called in a noise complaint, but I wouldn't think about calling the cops unless I tried to ask em to quiet down myself, It was past midnight, and I had something important early in the AM. I'm usually up til 3 or so anyways so it wouldn't bother me, but I live in a house in a quiet neighborhood 🙂

I'm up till around 2, too. But, these apartments don't exactly ahve the thickest walls. Even when talking in a normal tone, you can hear slight mumbling if the apartment was quiet (i.e. you had all your stuff turned off to go to bed). So, you can imagine when you can hear theirm usic from the parkinglot about 100 feet away and they're drunk.

Well, they've turned off their music now, but I figure that was thanks to the fact that I heard one of my other neighbors pounding on their door. What I don't get is they dont' have a bigger apartment to party in? These apartments must have about 600 square feet total with bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.
 
If i'm trying to sleep...whatever time that may be and there's noise coming from my neighbors...I'll tell them to quiet down.

If they don't quiet down, then I dunno, I never had to go beyond that.
 
If it is sluts that live under you, I would never tell them to be quiet. There is another way for you to handle your business. 😀
 
I live in a dorm and I used to be really really lax on it until about three weeks ago when I was awoken at 3:00am on a monday morning by drunk kids when I had to be at work at 6:30. My asking them politley to quiet down met with such resistance, I just have security on speed-dial now. I like to think of it as a remote control for the lobby volume :beer: Now I start making calls within one hour of quiet hours, so that would be 11pm on weekays and 1am on weekends.

Your mileage should vary... not living on campus and all....
 
Midnight. That's the beginning of a new day, and all things should be shutdown so that people may rest until they begin that new day.
 
dude, its saturday, and your in college. i cant beleive your whining about going to bed. go get some beers, relax, and be friendly with the frat whores. at least thats how i would handle it.
 
Usually it doesn't bother me if the parties only occur from time to time.
I've called in a noise complaint only once. It was last quarter at around 3 am and during finals week. Completely unacceptable.

That was what I was goign to do. They quieted down before I decided to play music so they can't hear anything else though. 😀
 
If it's loud enough to hear beyond your front door between the hours of 11pm and 8am, it's too loud.

If it's loud enough to disturb you (i.e. cannot hear TV at normal volume, you have to raise your voice to hold a conversation) it's too loud ANYTIME. Most leases have this spelled out quite well. A lot of people think they can make as much noise as they want during the day. This is simply untrue. If you have any questions, contact your local law enforcement agency and/or campus police.
