I was wondering what you guys use in the way of graphing calculators. I'm seeing a lot more 89s than I used to, and I'm just kind of curious what's the one people use the most these days.

TI-89 Titanium

Pain in the ass to use compared to the TI-84 Pluses we use at school. But, in the long run, I suppose it'll be more beneficial since the calculator can last me all through college. I'm in Alg2/Trig right now, HS sophomore.

Done, thanks. Haven't heard about or even seen anything about it.

Used to have a TI-81 which I gave away after getting a TI-85, and the last one I bought and still use is a TI-83 plus.

TI-89 Titanium. If you're going to school and you know you're going to be doing a hell of a lot of math... you can't go wrong with this beast. The only problem is, can't use them on most exams. But for my Calc classes, Diff EQ, etc. I was never allowed a calculator anyway.

Ti-89 - had it since 01 - got me through all of Calc 2/3, 3 physics courses, and 2 high levels stats courses and still generating graphs and doing addition like it just came out of the box :D

I used a TI-85 in high school, but the TI-83 is a better calculator. I used a TI-83 Plus in college for statistics.

I used an 86 for a year because we had one. Once my sister got out of high school I took her 89. Been using it for 5 years now

Never saw a point to the 83/84.
As a Jr. Engineering student they're really just paperweights. Sure, they can add things pretty well, but so can my cell phone. I have to use the 89 everyday from checking integrals and derivatives for beam loadings, to iteratively solving roots to non-linear equations (and I don't mean with the polynomial solver). I never had anything but a scientific calculator up to pre-calc; can someone please explain why all these kids need graphic calculators to learn geometry.

I have the 84+. I have in the past owned the 83+ Silver Edition whoooo and the 89. Now I am using TI's finance calculator (BAII professional I think is what it's called) and it's ok. They need to make a finance calculator with a big screen and edity function like graphing calcs have.

TI-83+, TI-86. I have no idea where either are, though, so I just use Power Calculator (PowerToys app) on Windows.

If it is worth graphing, it is worth saving on a PC so no graphing calculator for me. From a geek perspective, I can see that graphing calculators are nifty but i just haven't found a real world use for one. Maybe that's my problem, I've been out of school too long.

TI-89, and I will kill you, and at least 2 generations of your family, if you take it from me when I really need it.

Though, now that it has Eneloop AAAs in it, I might have to make that 3 generations. If a 3rd is unavailable, you will be restrained and forced to create another (sacrificial) generation.

Graphing Calculators: Serious business.
