I miss all the crazy deals e-tailers had going on when they were just starting up. Deals are harder to come by now.

I also miss my first internet love affair. I've learned a lot since then, but it was fun while it lasted.

those websites that would pay you for being on the internet

I'm still waiting for that money that I "earned" on those sites.. Those were good times.

As for the topic, I miss the old ebay and the old yahoo! auctions.

I miss ICQ. I'm probably in the minority there, though.

I also miss early anandtech forums (nothing against the current forums). The days with WombatWoman, before the whole episode with Dennilfloss. I even miss the days when Paulson almost became the new Nef. Those were always fun threads.

It's still what most of my friends and I use.

EFNet #Quake. Logging in from AOL or saying, "lol" would get you a /BK.

The PainKeep mod.

AnandTech BBS.

People understanding the irony of 1337sp34k.

Visiting alt.sex.anal and finding lively, intelligent, mature discussions about sodomy.

I still use ICQ every day all day.
Now gimme early Powwow. That program simply predated itself. Was simply amazing at the time and beats most current chat programs hands down.

I haven't used ICQ in nearly 7 years, but I still remember my # - 1615138.

hahaha, AllAdvantage baby!

I remember my bro and I got like $15 a month for a handful of months until they drastically lowered the payout rate and clamped down on the use of the mouse scripts that ran the programs all night, lol.

I miss all the pricing mistakes that actually got honored and items shipped. I remember the days of searching sites looking for things that appeared to be priced too cheap, then buying in quantities and reselling.

How long did it take you to learn that you don't exchange nakey pics when you first meet?

I miss the original napster, when it had an integrated chat client. It was nice to talk to people while exchanging music with them, plus I hooked up with this chick with huge tits who gave me my first blowjob ever 🙂

she had shitty taste in music though..

edit: romp.com was cool too. Pedro the gypsy was my favorite.

audiogalaxy.com
It was great to be able to leave the client running at home, open up the website at work, select what songs to download, and come home finding the songs ready on my hard drive.

Oh yeah, and alladvantage.com 😀

I miss that game so much. I've played so many MMOs since that game and none of them can touch the original UO. I remember spending like 14 hours a day sometimes playing it. Almost a good thing for me that they turned it into total garbage 😛
