What thing are inportant when choosing a new cellphone and provider?

When you try to talk to a salesperson about it, they never give you a straight answer. They want to blur the diffence between the phonce, and the phone service, and the bundled priceing for both.
So, do I choose the provider, and then choose the phone?
other way arround?
Do some providers really have better service, or do they all use the same towers anyway?

i would choose the provider first... i have virtually zero signal with ATT GSM at home... but i have full bars with Cingular. Maybe thats because ATT is still rolling out because thats how bad my Cingular service was a year ago too.

First you find the best service provider in your area THEN you choose a good cell phone.

Ask your friends, family, and co-workers what they use and if they're happy or not?

There's also reviews you can find online as well.

probably get a provider first, based on other peoples opinions, picking a phone should be the easy part..

just make sure you dont lock yourself into a plan you dont use, i have a 500 minute a month plan an i used about 150 of that, its a total waste of my money

only way to find out if the provider works in your location is to get someone on that provider to make calls during peak hours from there. also, the phone does make a difference, my old phone i got really bad reception from the back of the house, new one is fine.

signal strength is the most important, the price and price of the phone. I used to have sprint few years ago, they gave me very good rate and even a free month before I cancel, but if I am inside of my home, I can't receive or dialout anyphone number because I can receive any signal, I need to goto backyard to make or receive phone call and if I walk around, it will drop call. Better check the signal strength in your home and your work first.

at&t has 30 day trial now, i'd expect the others to follow along but who knows... i figured everyone would do rollover after cingular did but it doesn't seem to have caught on
