I put my laptop into standby tonight as I usually do and after I did that the screen started doing some crazy color crap that made me think my laptop died on me. Once, however, I unsuspend the computer and it goes back into windows it seems fine. But it's done the crazy color stuff three times in a row.... thinking about sending it back or something to get it fixed; I just bought it a month ago (with those great Dell deals). It should be under warranty and I was about to buy the three year support from them anyways.

Have you seen this before? It freaked me out....

I did notice while doing this that it does have a dead pixel on it so that sucks too. :(

UPDATE: I just updated my video drivers and the issue has seem to gone away... should I still send it in or just assume it was a driver problem?

That was pretty cool. :D

I've never seen anything like that before. Are you sure you don't have some weird screensaver turned on and don't realize it?

Screensaver? I dunno. Cool as hell though. But I'd send it in now. Even if it still works. Don't wanna wait until the warantee runs out.

Thats an Inspiron 8500/8600

Try to remove the display connector and put it back firmly. btw.... the connector is under the power button, you ll have to remove the top blue strip ...

Looks like you have some rebellious pixels there.

Now your positive you dont have a giant electro-magnet behind it?

Close Encounter of the Fourth, or maybe even Second Kind!

Too bad it doesn't make those "dooo be do beeee doooo" musical notes, because that is the basis of my hypo.

Play some Pink Floyd in the background and charge admission to look at your laptop.

It's an 8600.... would that void my warranty?

Aye.

That's a loose display connector, or a failing LCD panel.
