Awesome pictures. Really telling how most of the pictures the families look honestly happy, be it with 200$ of food in front of them, or a few bags of grains.

@ QED, the American pictures had famillies spending on average 150$ (US).

Really interesting how it sorta of attacks the stereotypes (US eating nothing but hamburgers, as well as a few second world countries and there take on food) to show what people honestly eat.

Another interesting observation is the prominence of American foods (crackers, pringles) in many of the pictures.

I new it had to be older. There was no way some of those those US grocery bills were as low as they were.

it really depends on how much meat and fresh veggies you eat, when i was in HS and both my bro and i were living at home, my rents would spend 300+ every week on food

also depends on where you live, food in the north east costs a fuck ton more then it does in the south

Wow that is amazing at how families in "poorer" countries have so much nicer spreads of fresh fruits, veggies, breads, etc. I would love to have foods like that every week like the Italian family for example. Granted I only spend ~$50 on groceries/wk because I am never home and ~$90/wk total for food because I get usually just get fast food/stuff at work.

Correct. Fresh fruits and veggies (along with many diary products) are killers. Its VERY expensive to eat healthy. In fact that is currently a big worry with the current rise in food prices (thank you bio-fuels). Poorer families already spend 1/3 to 1/2 of their income on food. If prices continue to rise, they will be forced to buy cheaper, much less healthy food for their families. Lose-lose all around.

They're alot more expensive in the winter months but once "Farmer's Market" season gets rolling it's actually rather reasonable to buy fresh fruits & veggies.
