Oh, I wouldn't be surprised if it had been granted in a case like that. There's a degree of politicization here. But I also wouldn't want to definitively speculate, since the laws would be substantially different beyond just the subject matter.
My theory is that the SCOTUS will shoot down the law in the end, but that this was the conservative side of the bench winking to Texas.
On paper these moves sound good. However, in these work-from-home days it seems like not much of a gesture as long as the companies still have headquarters in Texas. If they up and move THOSE, now we are talking an impact. I won't hold my breath.

Saw a vid by a TX OBGYN who points out that ostensible carve out for abortion to protect the life of the mother is basically BS.
There is no legal bright line that says when the mother's life is in danger and the doctor would be allowed to perform the abortion. Picture the case where a 17 week woman needs an abortion because her water has broken and an infection starts. The fetus can't be delivered because delivery at 17 weeks is an abortion. The doctor and the patient have to decide when her life is in enough risk to abort. If the doctor does intervene, the mother lives but the father didn't want the baby aborted - lawsuit. See the mother lived so she obviously didn't need the abortion. Doctors will now legally be forced to let you get very close to death before intervening and they won't always be successful in saving you when they do.
This is basically what happened in Ireland. The case that caused them to allow abortions again had the medical team refuse to intervene in a case where a woman became septic but the fetus was still alive. She and the fetus died from the infection because the doctors had been threatend legally by the state.
I read about another similar case in the US. One where a woman ended up pregnant with an IUD still in place. It started causing significant bleeding and pain and was non viable. A 3 day waiting period followed by a snow storm left her stranded in an ER where they were unable to terminate the pregnancy due to hospital rules and state laws until her life was in danger. They were having to measure the amount of blood loss until they felt the loss of blood was severe enough to end the pregnancy.
How fucked up will that be, where they could save you or your wife or daughter but you haven't bled out enough for your life to obviously be in danger. Then you either die or they save you and you wait for the inevitable lawsuit from a family member, someone on the medical team, or some rando who thinks you really weren't in danger.

As someone raised with no sex ed and abstinence only education, I think it's ludicrous that we would rob those peeps coming up of critical life information.
Conservatives should be pushing for sex ed if they actually cared about people and wanted to reduce both unwanted pregnancy and abortion rates. Instead, they just bury their heads in the sand and keep on trying to slut shame those who don't go along with their theocratic view of society.

Funny thing about the map showing the highest incidence of teenage pregnancies. Just looking at the map one could infer that teenagers are having more sex where it is warmer. So maybe it has little or nothing to do with where abstinence is being pushed. Well it did say birth rates and not pregnancies. So maybe it's a lot easier to get an abortion in northern states so fewer births. A lot of variables go into these sorts of findings, and some will cherry pick the data to support their beliefs.

I gotta say now that a major US company in Salesforce is literally offering to pay for relocation of its employees due to the abhorrent political stances of a state GOP, we literally have an American company offering to relocate its people as political fugitives from an actual US state, not from a foreign country. That is insane when you think about it. Just shows how fucking backwards the GQP is.
Also, a doctor has publicly admitted to performing an illegal abortion under the new law. It's telling the the Texans are hesitating to sue him just calling it a stunt and nothing more. Yeah, I mean it's a politically motivated move, but if you had fucking conviction, you'd sue his ass right now. Clearly the Texas cavemen GQP are thinking maybe they bit off more than they can chew here, purely via political calculus. If they thought they could repress women to the stone ages and get away with it, they would. But right now they are hesitating due to perceived political backlash. I think there is a case from a different state that could also overthrow Roe, that should be decided next summer by the SC. In time for the midterms.

People should report Governor Abbott to the authorities for helping someone get an abortion. Yes, just make shit up but have tens of thousands of people reporting him. The way Texas law seems to be working he would have to prove he didn't to escape culpability. We seem to be way past anyone having to prove anything in court.
