qft. Also, some jerkoffs think they are better than you unless you have their level of education. You can't let that happen!

To experiment with alcohol and drugs, I think.

What did you want? Some bullshit about how man is constantly seeking knowledge of the universe? Because that wouldn't be true for 99.999% of college students.

To get better jobs and make more money, have more opportunities in life. Not everyone wants to work in Burger King.

EDIT: Sorry that sounded mean, I didn't mean it like that

To actually learn something difficult and challenge yourself with something like engineering... high school was completely worthless.

Well, I'm just about to start my first day of university so I will tell you what I'm thinking (this will be a bit unstructured, so I apologize in advance):

University has always been my goal but it was not always a goal that I rationally thought out and set for myself. I think that it's through my brothers achievements in university (he is ~10 years older then me) that I put it on a pedestal. I respect my brother more then anybody else in this world so it's a pretty high pedestal haha.

I now understand that there are more options then university and that college/university is actually very overrated.

Even though I gave it a lot of thought, I still have no sweet clue about what I want to do with my life. However I'm going in with a love of science and a newly discovered love of helping people though a basic knowledge of medicine (I started volunteering over the summer for the St. John Ambulance as a medical first responder and it has been a eye opening experience) and I am hoping that I can find something that I will enjoy.

I also have to say that I am enrolled in a great university that has one of the lowest tuition rates in Canada (~$1500, not including books), which is also about a 10 min drive from home. So I consider myself pretty lucky :).

Edit: Overzealous use of commas and I can be nit-picky :p.

Because lots of people aren't ready for real life and think they need a degree to get a good job or else they will work at burger king their whole life.

My wife and I were collectively making $70k/year when we were both 22 years old working at semi-professional jobs (me: IT guy, her: banker). I lost my job though (lay off) and found it hard to get another one without formal schooling even though I had years of Fortune 500 IT experience. So now I'm in school. Joy. The truth is that even though we make good money now when I am done with school our income will likely double.
