I happened to have letterman on and am watching one of the most bizzare interviews. Its like the dude is stoned or catonic or something. wtf?
 
I'm wondering what the drug is that causes this.. it is like there are some people in LA that start taking something specific that makes them act this way. Britney Spears, Anna Nicole, etc.

No, I don't think that was the gist. what the guy above said would imply letterman was making fun of the dude being on drugs and out of it. letterman said something after seeing the movie clip like "sorry he couldn't be here tonight" more like he was making fun of the fact that the old joaquin looks nothing like the one now
 
At the end he got up to leave, but then suddenly took off his glasses in started speaking animatedly to letterman, wonder what he said.

😕 Yeah, right. I'm sure that's what happened. 😕

Letterman tried to steer him in the right direction (i.e. before they showed the clip), but Joaquin was being a dumbass.
