#!*#!@#ing firefox 3 is driving me crazy. Stupid thing has been crashing like Netscape navigator all month and now I'm getting the retarded popup "did you see the information bar?" message when I try to watch msnbc videos even though there is no information bar.
What the ^$#@*$^ did they do to my firefox??!!
Blast!

Firefox uses a profile to store downloaded extensions, browser settings, history, cookies, cache, etc. If that profile becomes corrupt, Firefox can become unstable. Check out this link on creating a new profile.

the latest 3.x are unstable. I have a 3.0 installer and first thing I do is disable the updates. I ended up having to reinstall mine.

Does it keep crashing when you're typing stuff in a text box? that's what always happened to me. the 3.0 is stable though.

I've had no issues with the latest 3.0 Windows builds.

The latest Flash version (10.x) DOES have stability issues, but since I run ABP I rarely see/use Flash at all.

Yes actually it does keep crashing when I type. Annoying as heck and like I said it reminds me of good'ol netscape navigator.

I uninstalled everything and all plugins completely and it still won't play msnbc video. That's just a normal firefox shortcoming but I sure hope they can fix this crashing soon.

Strange ... I can play MSNBC videos just fine in Firefox, so I wouldn't call it a "normal shortcoming". Did you delete your old profile as well or just uninstall Firefox?

You might also try running Adobe's Flash uninstaller, which should purge your system of any and all remnants of Flash. Get Firefox running with a clean profile, then install the latest Flash player and see where you are at.

Are you guys having trouble with Firefox on Vista or XP? On XP FF3.x seems pretty stable to me, except for Quicktime videos, which seems to be the fault of the plugin. Also, if you use the Tab Mix Plus addon session manager, you can easily recover the crashed state of all your tabs. It's very handy.

Tab Mix Plus

i've got FF 3.0.6 on Win2K, WinXP, Win7 and PCLinuxOS. it's very stable. only exception is Hulu.com. it makes FF crash sometimes, but i'm sure the culprit is the Flash plugin.
