I'm in NYC and I don't have enough time to do all that I want. I work from 9-5 and get back by 6.

I have swimming, judo and gym. That takes about 2 weekdays (get back at 11pm) and part of a weekend day.
I also try to cook when possible, so that take 1-2hours a day. Toss in laundry, misc daily chores, unwinding and time with gf and friends there isn't too much for myself.

I could get a few extra hours by moving into Manhattan, but at a greater expense. A friend moved a few blocks south of Central Park and his rent is now 2x mine, for a studio not even as big as my living room. For a more reasonable sizing, I'd need to have a roommate or pay more than 2x, which is what I don't want.

As to your question, take up a hobby. Learn to cook. Learn a sport. Read more book. Explore the city.

Use your free time to your advantage. Take some college classes. You'll won't have this free time for very long.

I feel you... sort of.

I just got into an MBA program and will start soon, but I've basically been sitting on my a$$ just twiddling my thumbs for the past 3-4 years.

And I worked NYC hours on the west coast. 6AM - 2PM. So from 2PM - 10PM, I had nothing to do.

I probably should've gone to get the CFA.

1. Get the CFA
2. Become a mentor
3. Volunteer (MBA schools love this stuff)
4. Play video games (this is what I did and savored every moment of this)

Poor baby, all that money, all that time and, nothing to show for it. Guess you might as well kill yourself and get that boring dreary existence over with.

Next!

Wow... you live on Wall st and make good money, yet get to wake up at 8:30am, and work for only 6 to 6.5 hours a day??

haha yeaa, welcome to corporate america

In response to some of the other suggestions....
- I'm not much of a video gamer, but i do own a 360, and just picked up gta4, pretty damn good, but even so i can only play like 30-45mins a day...
- i've seen and done all of the touristy things in ny....
- for those that mentioned it not into weed, coke, any of that....lol...but i do drink....alot
- to those that said im saying that my life is bad....im not saying that at all....its just that im bored...

I'm in the same boat, nothing much to do. Eventually I get around to doing the dishes on occasion but otherwise it's just randomly browsing AT and Netflix instant movies. They're almost out. I was thinking about taking karate...

Volunteer somewhere? ...

seems like something good to do.

go to the gym after work and play basketball?

im surprised you're not just tired after work. i just relax after work.

i think you'd be better off finding something to do like 2 or 3 days of the week at the most.

visit bars all around nyc? note them and how good they are and keep working on it.
