Why don't you all just call it US Day or America Day or something?

Canada Day FTW!

KT

Let's not forget it was once called Dominion Day.

In other news, I use 4th of July and Independence Day with equal frequency, and Perknose is trolling as usual.

Washington DC calls their parade the 'National Independence Day Parade'

My Staples daily planner has printed 'Independence Day (US)' under July 4th.

And Lotus Notes displays 'Independence Day (USA)' under July 4th in it's Calendar.

It would be a little retarded if your calendar said "Fourth of July" under the Fourth of July now wouldn't it?

That doesn't stop the Fourth of July from being the more common phrase. Jesus Christ retards.

😕 Who cares if it's the more common phrase, it was to refute the ignorant statement made by another member. Reading comprehension ftl.

Sounds like you lack reading comprehension, because you took Perknose's hyperbole literally.

He addressed your response before you even made it:

See if you can figure out WHY on your own.

Meanwhile, how does almost every American you've ever met refer to the fourth IRL?

And he was nice enough to not ban you and TehMac for blatant mod call-outs. See, the grumpy old man isn't so bad after all. 😉

I am willing to bet that 99.9% of Americans call it "The Fourth of July" when referring to the holiday. So the original "rant" makes no sense.

I say Fourth of July, but the holiday seems to have lost its meaning. Nobody cares about the independence, just about music and fireworks.

I can't think of any holidays that have really maintained their meaning. They all just seem to be about gifts, eating, or getting pissed, or any combination of the three.

Will you still be attending your monkey job to fulfil your helpdesk duties on this national holiday?

I don't have a monkey helpdesk job you dumbass.

I don't work on any holiday. Just saw that post on our Intranet and thought it odd.

It's really not that odd at all. I almost always hear it just referred to as the Fourth of July.

No, that's where your friend "reading comprehension" comes in handy.

Your post makes no sense.

Again with the reading comprehension. 🙁

This response is full of win. However, I must point out that my calendar does say "Cinco de Mayo" on May 5th, which is stupid because it's just a translation that literally means "5th of May." It should say "Atomic Playboy's birthday."

The primary problem with Independence Day is casting Bill Pullman as the president. Who the hell would ever believe that?

I believe you mean Bill Paxton.

Fairly certain I don't. Thanks for playing.
